BIG BEAR LAKE WEATHER

SEASONS IN THE MOUNTAINS:

WINTER weather in the Southern California Mountains can be extreme. The snowfall can be breathtaking and a source of great fun, but snowstorms and icy roads can lead to challenging driving conditions.

“CHAINS REQUIRED” You will see this often during and after storm conditions on our mountain roads. Plan on having chains with you, even with 4-wheel drive vehicles, if you are traveling to Big Bear between October and April. Even if it looks like it may not snow, mountain areas can have isolated shower and snow activity.

SUMMER weather is normally beautiful. The average high is 82° and the low is 50°. With such lovely weather, we rarely have the need for air conditioning, therefore, most of our cabins and homes do not have it. We do have brief afternoon thunderstorms when the heat and humidity build up “down the mountain”. We enjoy the smell of the rain on the pines and the coolness it brings.

SPRING AND FALL have their own special beauty and beautiful clear warm days and chilly nights are the norm. It is possible during these times to get a winter-like storm, so check the weather and be prepared.
